Spider Veins

Spider veins, or broken capillaries, are medically referred to as telangiectasias. They are dilated capillary veins less than 2mm in diameter that exist just below the surface of the skin on the legs or face. Spider veins are blue, red, or purplish in color with a web-like or linear appearance.
Over the past few years, the ND:YAG laser has become the laser of choice for the treatment of spider veins. The laser energy can pass deeply into tissue without significant absorption, allowing energies high enough to treat spider veins without damaging or discoloring the skin and without being limited by skin pigmentation.
We do not treat varicose veins.

Treatment
For spider veins treatment multiple sessions may be necessary for best results. It depends on the condition of each person's veins. The treated veins improve over weeks to months. Sessions are usually performed about 2 to 3 months apart.

Some Tips
- If you are a person who does not like to tan, then any moment during the year is perfect for you. However, the best season is September through May; for those who like tan. This is a general rule for any kind of laser treatment.

- Avoid using tanning creams, spray tans, or any type of temporary pigmented creams prior to treatment.

- People with a history of the following conditions may not be good candidates for laser treatment and should consult their Doctor when considering treatment:
People with poor circulation
People who have a history of poor healing
People who take a blood thinner, such as coumadin or aspirin
People who are taking high doses of iron may have an increased risk of hyperpigmentation.

- Using topical anesthetic may constrict blood vessels and is NOT recommended. Our clients typically tolerate these procedures well without anesthetics.
